Botox, or botulinum toxin, is the most common cosmetic non-surgical procedure in the world. Most often, it aims to remove or reduce fine lines and wrinkles in the upper third of the face (forehead, frown lines and crow’s feet) to give patients a more aesthetic and youthful appearance. It can also be used to relax other muscles in other areas of the face and neck.

Goals

  • Eliminate or reduce forehead wrinkles, frown lines, crow’s feet and nose wrinkles
  • Prevent their appearance if the injections start on time
  • Lift the corners of the lips
  • Treat a gummy smile
  • Treat the golf ball appearance on the chin
  • Treat hypertrophy of the masseters (jaw muscles) and bruxism (grinding of the teeth and contractures of the jaw muscles)
  • Treat the vertical bands at the neck also called platysmal cords responsible for the “turkey neck” appearance
  • Eliminate or reduce excessive perspiration: palms of the hands, soles of the feet, armpits, etc.
  • Treat chronic migraine

Action

The action of Botox is not instantaneous. It begins to be felt around 4-5 days and increases until the 15th day when it is maximum.

Duration

3 to 6 months. It varies according to the people, the zones but also the regularity of the treatments.

Precautions to be taken after the injection :

  • do not bend or lie down for the first few hours after the injection
  • do not touch or massage the injected area so as not to move the product during the first 48 hours
  • do not expose the injected areas to strong heat: sauna, hammam, steam, cardio workout… during the first 48 hours
